About Botox Treatment at Livio Medspa in Cincinnati, OH
Getting Botox Cosmetic is a simple, safe procedure that can rejuvenate your skin and improve your appearance. It can reduce superficial facial wrinkles, deep wrinkles, and it is the most used minimally invasive facial enhancement procedure in Cincinnati.
Using Botox Cosmetic Injections for wrinkles and fine lines has become very popular. The process involves the injection of Botulinum toxin type A, a neuromodulator that temporarily inhibits muscle contraction.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Botox?
A good candidate for Botox is any healthy adult over the age of 21 looking to either soften existing wrinkles or proactively prevent them from forming. You are a great candidate if you notice dynamic wrinkles, lines that appear or deepen when you make facial expressions like smiling, frowning, or squinting.
If these lines are beginning to linger even when your face is completely relaxed (static wrinkles), Botox will help soften them over time.
If you are considering getting Botox in Cincinnati, there are several things to know before you go in for the treatment. You’ll need to tell your injector if you take any medications, are pregnant, or have any allergies. At Livio Medspa, we will go over your medical history thoroughly.
Getting Botox can cause some side effects, so being treated by an experienced and knowledgeable team will ensure you are being treated in the safest manner possible.
Treatment Zones for Botox
Frown Lines (11’s): Softens the stubborn vertical lines between the brows (corrugator and procerus muscles) to instantly erase an unintentionally stern or tired expression.
Crow’s Feet: Focuses on the outer edges of the orbicularis oculi muscle to smooth fine smile lines around the eyes while fully preserving your genuine expressions.
Bunny Lines: Relaxes the nasalis muscle to eliminate the small diagonal wrinkles that form on the bridge of the nose when you laugh or scrunch your face.
Dimpled Chin: Relaxes the hyperactive mentalis muscle to completely erase a bumpy, “cobblestone” texture and smooth out the lower face profile.
Jawline Slimming (Masseter): Relaxes the chewing muscles to slim a square jawline into a sleek V-shape while providing significant medical relief from TMJ, clenching, and teeth grinding.
Neck Bands (Platysmal Bands): Softens prominent vertical cords along the neck by relaxing the platysma muscle, delivering a subtle, non-surgical lift to the jawline.
Botox also treats underarm sweating, or hyperhidrosis by deactivating localized sweat glands under the arms. The result is months of total dryness and worry-free wardrobe confidence.

Botox Results Timeline: What to Expect
Neurotoxins do not work instantly, as it takes time for the formula to bind to the localized nerve receptors. Here is what you can realistically expect after your treatment session:
- Days 1–3: Your injection sites heal almost immediately (usually within an hour). You won’t feel or see a major difference yet—this is entirely normal.
- Days 4–7: You will begin to notice a gradual “softening” of muscle movement in the treated areas. The skin over the muscles will start to look smoother.
- Days 10–14: Full peak results are locked in. At the two-week mark, your lines will look beautifully smoothed out while your remaining facial features retain natural, balanced expressions.
- Months 3–4: Muscle movement will slowly and safely begin to return. To maintain your smooth, refreshed look seamlessly, this is the optimal window to schedule your next maintenance appointment.

Botox vs. Dysport® / Daxxify®
Botox: The gold standard with decades of clinical data. It offers highly predictable, precise placement with localized results that stay exactly where injected.
Dysport®: Features a slightly smaller molecular structure, allowing it to diffuse or “spread” a bit more smoothly across broader zones. This makes it an exceptional option for a soft, natural look across the entire forehead area. It also tends to kick in a day or two faster than Botox.
Daxxify®: The newest option on the market, uniquely formulated with a peptide stabilizer designed to potentially extend the lifespan of your results.
Botox Cincinnati FAQs
Is Botox safe?
Yes. Botox is one of the most rigorously studied medical aesthetic treatments in the world and has maintained an exceptional FDA-approved safety profile for decades.
How long does Botox last?
Botox works by blocking nerve signals that cause muscle contractions. Results appear within 10–14 days and typically last 12–16 weeks, depending on muscle strength and metabolism.
In addition to softening fine lines, Botox can improve deeper wrinkles. For best results, deeper lines may require complementary skin treatments and consistent Botox sessions over time.
What Is Botox Made Of?
Botox is a prescription treatment that uses botulinum toxin to block nerve signals, preventing muscle contractions that cause wrinkles.
Botulinum toxin is produced by the naturally-occurring bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
Botox smooths fine lines and wrinkles and is also used for medical conditions such as migraines and hyperhidrosis.
How Long Does It Take For Botox to Work?
Botox can start working within two days, but most patients see results in 1–2 weeks, with full effects at 14 days. Botox and Dysport all work by relaxing the facial muscles that cause expression lines. Timing may vary slightly by person, but the results are worth the wait.
How many units are used on the forehead?
Having a Botox injection in your forehead is an effective way to reduce vertical creases between your eyes and horizontal forehead lines. However, the amount of Botox required to achieve your desired results will vary from patient to patient.
Forehead wrinkles and frown lines can usually be treated with 30 units, while deeper lines may require up to 40 units.
It is important to consult with a certified practitioner or injector before having a Botox injection in your forehead. Schedule a consultation with Livio to learn more.
How Long After Botox Can You Get a Facial?
Botox is often part of a broader facial rejuvenation plan with fillers, lasers, or facials. However, getting a facial too soon can disrupt results or worsen bruising.
We recommend waiting at least 24 hours—and ideally 2–3 days—before applying pressure or treatments to the face after Botox.
Can You Exercise After a Botox Treatment?
It’s recommended to wait around 24-48 hours before doing anything strenuous. Early exertion can increase muscle activity and blood flow, which may cause bruising, discomfort, or allow the Botox to spread.
As your heart rate rises during workouts, circulation increases throughout the body. This may worsen injection-site bruising and reduce the effectiveness of your treatment. For the best results, give your Botox time to settle before resuming your normal fitness routine.
Can Botox Cause Headaches?
Approximately one percent of Botox patients experience headaches after receiving Botox injections. These headaches usually occur in the first few hours after Botox injections and generally get better within a few days. You can use over the counter analgesics such as Tylenol to treat discomfort.
How Does Botox Help Migraines?
Botox can be an effective treatment for chronic migraines. It works by relaxing muscles and blocking pain fibers around the head and neck, preventing pain signals from reaching the brain. Most patients notice relief within two weeks, though full results may take longer.
The FDA has approved Botox for patients with migraines lasting 14 or more days per month. If you suffer from chronic migraines, consult with our specialists to see if Botox is right for you.
Can You Drink Alcohol After a Botox Treatment?
It’s best to avoid alcohol for 1–2 days after Botox. While Botox is widely used, it is still a prescription treatment, and alcohol can increase bruising, swelling, and slow the healing process.
As a vasodilator, alcohol expands blood vessels, raising the risk of bruising. Instead, stay hydrated with water to support skin recovery and results.
How Long Should You Wait to Lay Down After Botox?
To maximize the effectiveness of your Botox treatment, you should avoid lying down or bending over for about four to six hours after your treatment. It’s important to leave the face alone to let the Botox set, and to avoid the possibility of it migrating to other parts of the face.
When you get a Botox treatment at Livio Med Spa, our providers will have instructions on how to treat the area afterward.
What Should I Not Do After Botox?
As you recover from Botox, it’s important to avoid activities that put extra stress or pressure on the treated area. Intense movements—like aerobic exercise, vigorous workouts, or yoga headstands—can cause the product to shift before it settles.
You should also avoid alcohol and ibuprofen for at least 48 hours before and after treatment, as both can increase the risk of bruising. In addition, skip hot showers, saunas, hot tubs, and tanning beds, since heat may slow healing or raise the risk of infection.
By giving your body time to recover and letting the Botox settle, you’ll maximize your results and reduce side effects.
Can You Get Botox While Pregnant?
Botox is not proven to be harmful to the fetus, but it hasn’t been proven safe for the fetus either. For that reason, most healthcare professionals advise women to wait for treatment until after you are pregnant.
What is Baby Botox?
“Baby Botox” uses smaller doses than traditional Botox to create a softer, more natural look. It’s ideal for first-time patients, those with minimal fine lines, or anyone looking to prevent wrinkles before they form.
During your consultation, our providers will determine the right number of units for your needs. Areas with deeper wrinkles may require more product, while lighter treatments cost less since pricing is based on units used.
Results are typically subtler than traditional Botox and can last up to 3 months, though some areas may fade sooner. In certain cases, a follow-up treatment may be needed after 6 weeks.
